From our home base in Minnesota — a state with an unparalleled concentration of globally leading food and agriculture companies and research institutions — we work together across our membership across to accelerate solutions that address pressing challenges in food and agriculture, catalyze innovation and entrepreneurship, and foster opportunities for stakeholders across the value chain.
In collaboration with our partners, MBOLD is advancing soil health, water stewardship and agriculture resiliency by driving market development, shared learning, and risk management strategies that help agriculture become more economically and environmentally resilient while creating new farm revenue opportunities in Midwest agriculture.
Flexible films are used throughout the food and agriculture sectors for food packaging, hay bales, pallet wrap and more, but only 5% of U.S. flexible packaging film gets recycled. MBOLD is changing that by developing a circular economy for flexible film in the Upper Midwest to reduce use of virgin plastic, cut waste and give these materials a second life.

Protein is an essential part of the human diet but protein production has a significant impact on the environment. Improving the sustainability of existing proteins and scaling up new options is key to our climate future and to meeting the dietary needs of a growing population within planetary boundaries.
